The StriperTackle Pro Pear Weights are a combo of both of our tried and true down line weights.  They combine the more compact design of the swivel eggs and the premium Spro swivels of the Pro Pencil Weights.  The pear design allows for a fast drop with a heavier weight than the pencil, with a much smaller profile.

Use the weights that many of the professional guides on Lake Lanier are using day in and day out.

Package includes 3 Pro Pear Weights of preferred size.

Pro Pear Weights FAQ

What are Pro Pear Weights used for in fishing?

Pro Pear Weights are primarily used for down line fishing for striped bass, especially on lakes like Lake Lanier where stripers suspend deep over timber during the summer months. Their compact shape helps anglers quickly get live bait down to fish while maintaining a more natural presentation.

Why do Lake Lanier striper anglers use pear weights?

Lake Lanier striper anglers use pear weights because they sink quickly, stay vertical under the boat, and create less drag than many traditional sinkers. This helps keep live blueback herring in the strike zone when fishing deep schools of stripers over timber and creek channels.

What makes the Pro Pear Weight different from other fishing weights?

The Pro Pear Weight combines a compact pear-shaped design with premium swivels that reduce line twist and tangles. The smaller profile helps create a cleaner bait presentation while still allowing anglers to fish heavier weights when needed for deep water striper fishing.

What size Pro Pear Weight should I use for Lake Lanier Stripers

The best size depends on depth, wind, boat speed, and current conditions. Many Lake Lanier anglers increase weight size during the summer when stripers move deeper and heavier weights are needed to keep bait vertical under the boat.

Are Pro Pear Weights good for downline fishing?

Yes. Pro Pear Weights are specifically designed for down line fishing applications. Their streamlined shape helps anglers efficiently target suspended stripers holding deep over standing timber, brush piles, and bait schools.

Heavier pear weights are commonly used during the summer and early fall when stripers move into deeper water. They are especially effective when fishing deep schools spotted on sonar or forward-facing electronics.

Can Pro Pear Weights help reduce tangles?

Yes. The compact shape and premium swivel design help reduce line twist and tangles compared to bulkier sinkers. This becomes especially important when fishing multiple rods or managing live bait presentations during active summer striper fishing patterns.

Are Pro Pear Weights only for striped bass fishing on Lake Lanier?

No. While they are extremely popular for striped bass fishing on Lake Lanier and other Southern reservoirs, they can also be used for hybrid bass, catfish, and other deep-water live bait applications where a compact vertical presentation is important.

Why are compact fishing weights important for pressured stripers?

Striped bass on heavily pressured lakes can become extremely finicky, especially in clear water conditions like Lake Lanier. Compact fishing weights create a more natural bait presentation and help anglers avoid spooking fish in deep, clear water.

What fishing setup works best with Pro Pear Weights?

Many anglers pair Pro Pear Weights with:

  • live blueback herring
  • fluorocarbon leaders
  • circle hooks
  • forward-facing sonar or traditional electronics
